Therapy

Most people will benefit from psychotherapy at some point in their lives. Some seek therapy when they are overwhelmed, suffering, or significantly challenged in one way or another, and others do so when they need to make small but important change. I help clients with a variety of concerns. My work isn’t driven by diagnoses or labels and most clients seek growth in a variety of areas of their life.

Individual Therapy

I help clients push through challenges to find fulfillment, well-being and balance in love, work and play. I offer warmth, openness and honesty in order to co-create trust and curiosity about the challenges clients face. I listen deeply, with compassion and help facilitate self-awareness, change, empowerment and growth. Clients take it slow and peel back the layers, or move decidedly, setting goals and checking in frequently to monitor progress. Some seek insight, clarity and healing from their past, while others want to focus on current challenges or stressors in their careers, relationships or life circumstances. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy and make sure your sessions will fit your style, needs and goals.

Couples Therapy

Couples seek therapy for all sorts of reasons such as improving communication, intimacy, partnership or friendship. Sometimes couples seek help when they face a difficult impasse, they are weary from constant conflict or when there has been an affair. I practice Emotionally Focused Therapy with couples, an evidence based and highly successful approach, informed by the science of attachment theory. EFT helps clients explore, understand and map out negative patterns in their relationship, where couples often respond to one another with anger, criticism, distancing, or silence. EFT helps couples identify and articulate the needs and longings that drive these cycles, creating greater understanding, compassion and empathy for one another. Couples begin to feel more secure and safe and more able to offer each other loving and compassionate responses.

Parenting and Family Therapy

There are no playbooks for families or parents. Sometimes therapy helps family members understand each other’s needs and it can foster a healthy commitment to change. In this work, we often explore patterns and roles that evolve, improve communication, and work towards creating positive changes. We work together to learn about ages and stages in the development of both the individuals in the family and the family unit as a whole. We find ways to improve communications and develop tools for coping with or resolving difficult situations.

Workshops & Group Work

I enjoy offering workshops and trainings as well as group therapy experiences. My workshops and trainings are offered to communities such as parents, folks with food allergies, or those who struggle with areas such as work-life balance, anxiety, perfectionism, etc… Clients who do group work often benefit from the support and understanding of others, perspective taking, and the group experience helps them feel less alone in their struggles. Humans grow, develop and thrive in relationships. So group therapy allows individuals to gain insight into their interpersonal and social lives in new and different ways. In group, they can build and experiment with newer and healthier ways of communicating, relating and connecting to others. Support groups, offered to clients who share similar experiences such as those related to grief, anxiety, or divorce, find comfort in being with and learning from others who understand their journey.

Allergy-Informed Therapy

Our schools, workplaces, medical system and often even our families don’t fully understand the social and emotional toll of living with food allergies. Individuals, families and kids often feel tired, frustrated, alone and anxious. I offer allergy-informed therapy to individuals and families. My commitment to this work is broad and I participate both in service to the food allergy community as well as to those who serve them. I am a certified Food Allergy Coach and a member of the Food Allergy Behavioral Health Association (FABHA), a nationwide group of mental health practitioners who specialize in meeting the needs of the food allergy community. I lead a peer supervision/consultation group of allergy informed therapists, and I am a Behavioral Health Advisor to the Food Allergy Counselor, a company dedicated to offering psychosocial resources to the allergy community and the providers who support them.
